The Diputación of Salamanca is in charge of managing the integral water cycle within the province, which is divided in 5 zones or management units. The lines of action developed within each unit are:
Water quality control service for human consumption. Sewer and sewage cleaning service.
Water supply service with cisterns.
Channel cleaning plan.
Management of supply and debugging systems
Technical assistance to municipalities in water matters.
In addition to the aforementioned, within the functions performed by the Diputación de Salamanca is the control of circulating flows in the supply and sanitation networks, both for pipelines in charge and for channels and collectors where water circulates under the regime of free sheet.
In order to improve the measurement of the same, the Diputación has had the collaboration of Arantec Engineering to perform the supply, assembly, calibration and commissioning of 5 flow meters with data transmission to remote control system in real time, in the pour points of the Integrated System of “Las Villas”
The system consists of 2 non-invasive flow meters located in pipelines under load and 3 meters of level and speed in collectors, with 3G communication, data logger and power or solar power, which are described below:
Flow meters in piping: Two non-invasive clamp-on type SP-200 flowmeters have been installed in each 100 mm steel pipeline next to the Huerta Wastewater Pumping Station and in Babilafuente.
Level sensors SPWS61 and speed SPR300W of radar typology in collectors located in Babilafuente, Villoria and Villoruela.
With this system and through the web application, the Diputación de Salamanca can control at any time the circulating flows through the pipes and collectors, as shown in the following graphs:
With the implementation of the Integrated System both the County Council and users of the Las Villas treatment plant are benefited from the point of view of better management of the resource and the consequent savings in water and in the coffers of the municipalities.
