Arantec Engineering has been the company chosen by the town council of Puente Genil for the installation of a Smarty Planet complete weather station with integrated camera, on the right bank or Cordovan river Genil, in the Guadalquivir River Basin.
The project was presented a few days ago by Francisco Morales, Councilor for Citizen Security and Civil Protection, who defined the installation as “pioneer” since it will allow the flow of the Genil River to be measured and prevent future flooding in the Pontana town. Francisco Morales was accompanied by the coordinator of the Civil Protection area of Puente Genil, Rafael Gálvez, and Mario Losáñez, director of Business Development of Arantec Engineering.
The installation, in operation since last December, is framed in the SmartCity Puente Genil project, and has radar level sensor, a complete meteorological station, GSM communication module, robotic camera and software for the registration and data history on the river Genil, installed in the lower area of the urban area, which will allow citizens through the website of the local Civil Protection service, through an Early Warning System (SAT) for flooding and hydrological monitoring, to track in real time of the river flow.
The weather station measures wind, level and temperature parameters, and is completely autonomous since it is powered by solar panels.

Smarty River is a complete application of Arantec Engineering that allows, in a simple way and in real time, record, visualize, manage alarms and share data on monitoring and the status of rivers and reservoirs.
This data is collected by the Sensor Stations and sent to the web application.

With this technology, the costs of the large infrastructures of the Hydrological Information Warning Systems (SAIH) or of gauging in ditches, reservoirs, pipes, channels, drains are reduced.
